Flaxman Wines make a wonderful Sparkling Shiraz. The current release is base wine from 3 different vintages, comprising of 1/3 Eden Valley fruit and 2/3 Barossa Valley. It spent 2 years on lees and was disgorged 2021. It was liqueured with Flaxman 2010 Shiraz VP, which was fortified with a 30-year-old brandy spirit. It has beautiful fruit, with raspberry and spiced plum notes a plenty. There’s a suggestion of licorice and some leather and earth too. It is rich and powerful but light on its feet. It is so complex, has excellent balance and the finish drives on and on. JH 2026
