A nose of fresh pear, quince and white peach. The palate has plenty of old vines sap and is textural. It bursts with fruit and has some chalky minerality buried below the flesh. The finish has a squeeze of lemon and a whiff of smoke. Length is very good. JH 2026
Laurent Fournier spends countless hours in his vineyards and has a deft hand in the cellar. The wines are deep and pure, driven by their fruit and develop gorgeous perfumes with cellaring. He is regarded by many, as the best producer in Marsannay and with its proximity to Gevrey-Chambertin, his wines share many of the traits with top Gevrey, except for the price tag. His 2023’s are splendid. Laurent kept yields relatively low in this abundant harvest and picked on the earlier side to maintain freshness. He believes that 2023 is the best vintage he has experienced for quality and quantity.
