The 2022 Le Bèrne Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Cervognano Alto is right up there with the very best Vino Nobile di Montepulciano we have ever had. Cervognano Alto is the highest of the Le Bèrne vineyards. It has a northwest exposure, and the soil is rich in limestone. It is 100% Sangiovese and sees 30 days of contact with the skins and then 24 months in special big 10 Hl oak barrels. It has a wonderful perfume of cherry and briary fruits with some florals thrown in for good measure. Ripe and fleshy, layered and textural. A hint of tobacco and a sprig of mint.
