The 2021 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is the most reticent and searingly tannic of Piero Benevelli's young 2021 Barolos. Iron, white pepper, chalk, incense and dried herbs are all beautifully delineated in the glass. The tannins are fine-grained yet incredibly persistent, with driving tension that extends the bright, saline finish effortlessly. 94 points, Antonio Galloni.
