Cool and expressive darker cherry fruits. There is more muscularity here than on the Francia and more fruit density carries through to the palate also. Concentrated sweet fruits also explode on the palate and the tannin for this wine is not shy, particularly for a Barbera. A bit of time over the tasting allowed it to unfurl and the perfume of the vintage leaps out of the glass and the shape clarifies and opens up. Natasha Johns.
