Ripe, blackberry liqueur, gun metal (don’t come near my daughters!), liquorice, cocoa, dried herb and lavender. Lush, sooty, all the dark chocolate and black fruit, throaty, full throttle, warm too, though tastes savoury and earthy with it. and even though it’s full on, and lavish, it has a core of ‘minerally’ acidity that keeps it in check, and grainy tannin on a long finish. A lot of oomph. No shortage of charisma. Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
