The 2020 Valmur chez Moreau was already assembled in tank, but the wine was in fine form and absolutely singing at the time of my visit. The refined aromatic constellation delivers scents of apple, pear, a very complex base of Kimmeridgian limestone soil, spring flowers, beeswax and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with impressive mineral drive and grip, snappy acids and a long, complex finish that closes today with just a touch of its new oak still showing. This will be further absorbed with a bit of bottle age and the wine will be perfectly balanced by the time it reaches cruising altitude. 94+ points. John Gilman.
