2018 Giacomo Conterno Vigna Francia Barolo, MAGNUM

The Francia vineyard faces more southwest and Roberto sees it as being a combination of both other vineyards. For us, it feels more decadent with hints of orange blossom, tea leaf and even some stone fruit hints, like peach. It shows more restraint and more nerve with more cool fruit character. It’s really complex with more influence of that balsamic note and the same saline mineral character underpinning. Tannins are more prominent than Arione this vintage and not as muscular as Cerretta. An incredible wine.  JH 2022
