This is a classic vintage, that is aging very well. A decade’s worth of cellaring has already been done for you and pricing is extremely fair for these wines of immaculate provenance.
Good full, deep red. Alluring scents of redcurrant, minerals, smoke, tobacco and menthol complemented by complex earth tones. Deep, broad, sappy and quite dry if closed in the early going. Rich, savory, sophisticated wine with lovely balance and finesse. Finishes with serious but fine-grained tannins. This brooding, soil-driven wine is not at all hard or austere but it's not particularly sweet or easy either. It should age very well. 91 points. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.
