1994 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru, excellent colours

This was an outstanding bottle of mature white Burgundy. There's a whiff of smoke, a hint of white mushroom and some autumnal leaves indicating age. It has some custard apple and peach fruits along with notes of lavender and dried apricot. The palate is rich, heady and textural and quite buttery through the mid. There's salinity behind the flesh. It is deep and powerful and has citrus rind and grapefruit bitterness adding freshness to the long finish. JH 2026
