1982 Piero Benevelli Barolo, slightly damaged labels

Gave this a 5 hour decant and it continued to evolve in the glass over an hour or two. Some balsamic volatility to begin. Then you get Indian spices and tar and a hint of ironstone. It is deep and chewy, with a core of sweet, dried fruits. There's so much savoury nuance and plenty of muscle to the long finish. This is old school and very good. JH 2026
