1979 Roagna Barbaresco

Starts off with some decaying plant matter, leather and balsamic. Several hours in the decanter unlocks all of the goodness. It has dried fruit notes, a tarry edge and some Indian spices too. It is rich and textural through the mid. It is deep and chewy. There's a flex of sinewy tannin and tangy acidity. There's chalk and salt and the finish drives on. So complex, engaging and substantial.
