1971 Barale Barolo, Damaged label

This was the Riserva and it was absolutely brilliant. Engaging aromatics of caramalised fig, tar, raisins, porcini, iron, menthol and meat. It has great depth of flavour in the mouth and savoury and expansive. We decanted it for 6 hours but it still kept getting better and better in the glass right through to the last drop. Acidity on the finish is so fresh and vibrant yet at one with the wines other elements. JH 2015
