1962 Gruaud Larose, Saint-Julien

Bright red with an amber rim. Amazingly perfumed, intense nose offers blackcurrant syrup, black cherry jam and sweet spices. Bright, dense and juicy on entry, with sweet flavors of blackberry and blackcurrant complicated by minerals and cocoa. Finishes clean and long, with bright acidity and smooth tannins. A great Gruaud-Larose, and a wine that has always been overshadowed by the much more famous 1961 that preceded it. Ian D'Agata, Vinous
