1961 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo damaged label

Damaged label.

It started off very savoury with notes of iron, smoke, tar, leather and balsamic. As it breathes you get some fig and dried fruits coming to the fore. There’s black olive saltiness and it is a wine of power and authority with plenty of structural chew. Length is imposing and it is a robust engaging wine with plenty left in the tank. JH 2017
