1958 Fontanafredda Barolo

Had quite a red tinge to the colour, rather than the usual Nebbiolo orange but still threw a large amount of sediment. There’s a massive whack of balsamic volatility but I liked it. There were red fruits, truffles and mushrooms, raisins and loads of tar. It is still a very strong and forceful wine with real presence and chewy tannins. JH 2018
