The Failla wines are epic. They are featured on the hottest wine lists around America and the wines were some of the very best we tasted during our January trip to The Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Ehren Jordan was the long-time maker at the famed Turley Estate and now has a beautiful boutique winery in the hills behind St Helena in The Napa Valley. He sources superb fruit from both the Napa and Sonoma and the wines are world class. Ehren uses a wide array of concrete and stainless steel for fermentation and there are a few amphora in the cellar. He likes to experiment yet is extremely focused and the winery is squeaky clean. He quipped that he likes brett…in other people’s wines.
Cathy Corison is a legend of the Napa, making elegant, ageworthy wines. They are not heavy, extracted or alcoholic, yet the most pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. We receive a tiny allocation of these highly desirable wines. Decanter magazine rated the Corison 2013 as one of the top 5 wines of the vintage.
September is the month we release our eighth edition of repast. This edition features a stellar line up of French producers and detailed tasting notes of the 2014s, as well as the usual great tales of eating and travelling.
Covering Champagne, Alsace, Burgundy and Paris, this edtion is being touted as the best yet.

We have had an overload of new stock arrive these last few months. Plenty of Riojas, Barolo and Barbarescos, all are up on the site now and of the bottles we have tried, they are showing brilliantly. Plenty of great vintages too.
d'Or to Door have been able to secure a fantastic selection of Zerrutti Glassware this month, and all are available at clearance prices here. Many of these have sold already but we do have some stock left of the entire range, so jump in while there is still some available. The Ultimo Taster glasses are incredible value at just $8 a glass.
French fries don't always have to be consumed in France, Vintners Bar and Grill have made the headlines for a few things lately, for their fries (pictured), and most recently a Savour Australia award for 'Best Contemporary Regional Restaurant'. We were in there this week to ensure the oysters were fresh and the fries are up to the normal extraordinary standard. They were. 'Must try' on the seasonal menu at the moment is the whole fried baby barramundi, nam prik, young shoots & coriander, chicken salad and the steak tartare. The team here have honed the menu to resemble a finely tuned piano. And Rami has added even more excellent and interesting wines to the list.

The 2016 trip to Burgundy is complete. The wines of 2014 have been tasted and a trip to Paris involved enjoying some older gems at some great restaurants. This one being Taillevent. repast 8 will cover France (Champagne, Burgundy, Alsace and Paris).
The first two months of this year have seen our Italian and Spanish collection increase. We have already made it our priority to try numerous ones - to ensure they are of the highest quality. See below for a few of the top picks.

It really gives me the irrits when someone uses the BdM teaser, I click on expecting to see a note on Bonneau du Martray and there’s a note on a Brunello. Well I apologise for I have sinned.
Today I drank the oldest Bdm I have had. The 1969 Silio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino was given a 7 hour ‘Audouze’. It had an engaging aroma, comprised mainly of plant matter derived things. Decaying roses, compost, root vegetables, pine needles, tobacco and autumnal leaves. It has vinous sweetness and plenty of earth along with a shot of espresso. It is one of those wines that forces you to slow down, come a little closer and concentrate. The palate is quite silky but still has some tannic chew on the back-end. It is a cerebral wine and as the last of the 720mls disappeared we yearned for an extra 30. Jeremy
repast/d'Or to Door headed down to Mt. Gambier on the weekend to catch up with Kent Comley and his team at The Barn. The Barn Steakhouse steak did not disappoint, you can read the review in March when repast edition 7 is released. (pre-order now)
Has to be the best Brunello I have ever drunk. It is dense and powerful yet has such elements of beauty. There's a heart of black cherry and cassis fruit. It breathes in the glass to show notes of dried flowers, cedar, black olives and leather. It has flesh overlaying chewy structure and finishes with so much savoury nuance. Just about the perfect steak wine for mine. Cheers, Jeremy
