2018 Domaine du Cerberon Volnay 1er Cru ‘Clos des Chênes’

A visit to this Domaine fortified our belief that is a serious Domaine on the rise. The whites are very Coche-like, with great flintiness, wonderful richness and beautiful acid balance. The have real depth and poise. The reds are also terrific and it isn’t hard to see why, Meo-Camuzet winemaker Françoise Nicvert is involved with the Domaine.

Deep purple colour. Tiny, concentrated berries were harvested from this vineyard in ’18 and it shows. There are black cherry, Satsuma plum, menthol and sarsaparilla root notes. It is a big wine, but still in proportion. The finish drives on and on. JH 2020
